Homegrown organic Luffa (Loofah) seeds, saved from healthy parent plants grown with care in my backyard. Care instructions included in package, if you need detailed guidance or encouragement, I'm always happy to help!

🌿 About this plant:
Luffa is a fast-growing warm-season vine that loves sun and space to climb. It produces long green gourds that can be harvested young for cooking or left to fully mature into natural loofah sponges. With a trellis and a long growing season, luffa is a fun and rewarding plant to growβ€”even for beginners.

These seeds are open-pollinated and saved in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. No pesticides, insecticides, or commercial fertilizers have ever been used around the parent plants. This plant is rewarding to grow, but like all garden plants, results can vary depending on climate, soil, and growing conditions.

πŸƒ Please note:
Because these seeds are grown and saved by hand, natural variation can occur. Germination rates and plant performance may vary based on environment and care. I do test all of my seed batches, but nature can sometimes be unpredictable. If you run into any issues, please feel free to reach out β€” I’m always happy to help troubleshoot or replace any uncooperative seeds.

🌱 What to Expect

Growth type: vine

Season: warm-season / annual

Difficulty: moderate / for patient growers

Time to maturity: This plant requires a long growing season to produce mature gourds, for cooking/eating it is recommended to harvest within 90-100 days, when fruits are under 7 inches in length and before they produce a fiberous flesh. For sponges, fruits may take over 150 days to mature - harvest when they turn brown in color and dry up. You should be able to hear seeds rattling inside. Be sure to harvest before freezing temperatures begin.Β

Special notes: If you have a shorter growing season, seeds can be started indoors and transplanted outdoors once the threat of frost has passed.

Carefully snip a corner of the seed and soak in water for 24hrs, then wrap in a damp paper towel and place in a ziplock bag under a grow light until tails poke out. Plant in seed germinating soil as soon as tails appear so they don''t get stuck to the paper towel. Keep covered for maximum humidity until leaves appear. Once leaves appear, remove cover and keep moist until plant starts to vine. Once vining, transplant outside with minimal root disturbance, and watch them grow!Β
